Abel Tasman (1/15/07) - with video
1/15/07
After a little debacle with our rental car we were one the road and ready for what lay ahead. Our first destination was Abel Tasman National Park and the town of Nelson.
Colleen and I bought necklaces for one another carved out of bone in the shape of friendship for eternity. It is Maori tradition to bless them with a prayer before exchanging them.
On the way to Abel Tasman we stopped at a beach and did some exploring and almost got attacked by some aggressive seagulls.
(I am pointing at the seagulls and making a fierce stance to scare them off!)
We found some drift wood and did some fencing...
We didn't have as much time at Abel Tasman as we would have liked, but we did have time for one trek. The vistas were expansive and the chirping cicadas almost deafening! One lost cicada flew right into my ear! Freaked me out!!! This video doesn't do it justice, but if you can imagine...
We did get some great pics while we were there though!!!
The tide was VERY low when we got there and some of the anchored boats were landlocked! It looks strange to see boats in the middle of dry land! Especially those with anchors out!
Once we got back to our hostel we took a walk and checked out the sunset!
