Maui Trip #2

So, where do you go for Spring Break when you live on a tropical island? To one of the neighboring tropical islands of course...and that is just what Lish and I did! Although we had already been to Maui once, we decided to take the quick flight back and do some of the things we didn't get to the first time around...the #1 thing...see the sunrise at the top of Haleakala...(none of my pictures capture its splendor)
But before we did that, we went to Lahina and cliff jumped (where I lost my nose ring and one of the locals swam 25+ft down and retrieved it...well, almost...it was someone else's, but the fact that the water was clear enough to see something that small amazed me!
While we were there we saw whales breaching the in the distance...yes, that black dot is a whale...the picture doesn't do it justice!
We also lived up the Maui night life and danced to our hearts content...we were so "good" we virtually took over the dance floor! HA!
We had to leave the house at 4am to get to the top of Haleakala before the sunrise...I don't think any of us was prepared for the cold temperatures at the top! I had long undies, a wool shirt, a sweatshirt, etc and I was still freezing! Guess a person who grew up without mountain elevation as a factor wouldn't understand, but I DO NOW!!! None of my pictures captured the sunrise's splendor, but...
The last thing we checked out while in Maui was a little park with a cool rock formation (for the life of me I can't remember the name of the park!), but the coolest thing there wasn't the rock formation, it was the "heart trees!"
