Me and My Daddy

Me and My Daddy

Look everyone! My first visitor here in Hawaii! My Daddy came to visit me for a couple of days and we did TONS of stuff! We went snorkling, scuba diving (although I thought he wasn't going to do it for a little while there) toured the island, went to Pearl Harbor, and I took him surfing=) See what you all have to look forward to when you come and visit me!

Rainbow

One example of the hundreds of rainbows I have seen since moving here 3 weeks ago! They pop out of no where and are beautiful!!! Yesterday I saw one that made a complete arch and I could see where it was touching down...sadly, from what I could tell, there was no gold at the end of the rainbow!

Waves

Well, the storms that are brewing in the Pacific are causing record swells for this time of year on the South Shore of Hawaii...today it is only about 3 feet, but it has been awesome! This picture does not do it justice cause the waves on Waikiki break pretty far out and I don't have a great zoom on my camera. The long paddle out there is tiring, but great for the arm muscles!!!

Hawaii Pacific University

So, this is school...kind of strange. Not your typical campus...classes are mixed in to the rest of the downtown buildings so it is a challenge to find your way around sometimes, but I like it! It is TOTALLY different for UW-Stevens Point. This picture is of the Fort Street Mall, which is just for pedestrians and where most of the buildings where classes are held are located. It is also where most little restaurants and coffee shops are located and where all the students hang out between classes. The best part of it is, it is always sunny and nice so I never have to worry about running to class in the rain or snow=)

Josh & I after parasailing

This is one of my 2 first friends in Hawaii, Josh! He is also my boss now as he hired me to help with his software company. Basically I am an administrative assistant and help with shipping and receiving! Hey, it pays the bills and the hours are flexible.

AHHHHHHH!!! Parasailing in Hawaii - the scary thing is I really saw a shark when I was up there - at least I haven't seen any while I was in the water.

Well, this was my second day here and I was already getting into the groove - here I am with my new friend Eddie (the guy standing up) getting ready to scuba dive! Since arriving a little over a week ago I have been diving 5 times or so! It is AMAZING and I am working on my Open Water Scuba certification. Eddie works at a dive shop here and is teaching me lots=)

For those of you that don't know, I participated in my first sprint distance triathlon this year and hope to do many more! This one benefited breast cancer and was very supportive. Now that I am in Hawaii, hopefully I will have the time and weather to train and participate in more!!! (Although, I have to admit that swimming freely in the ocean is a bit scary - there are strange creatures in there.
